Use the arrows, swipe, or press → to move. The level can be changed any time from the top bar.
Pick the level before you start. The level switch changes the explanations on every slide; the Qur'an and hadith texts stay the same. Turn on Notes (top bar) to see these teaching notes. The Menu lets you jump to any part — the deck is long, so plan to teach it over several sessions (suggested: Opening + Shahadah · Salah · Zakah, Sawm, Hajj · Iman · Names of Allah · Ihsan + closing).
A mysterious visitor walks in…
One day, the Companions were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ in the masjid in Madinah. Suddenly a man walked in. Something about him was very strange. Can you find the clues? Tap each card.
'Umar ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه tells us that one day the Companions were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man appeared. Everything about him was a puzzle. Tap each clue and think like a detective.
Very white clothes
Clean, bright white — not the clothes of someone who just crossed the desert.
Very black hair
Neat and dark — no dust, no messy hair from a long trip.
No sign of travel
So he must be from Madinah… but wait!
Nobody knew him
Everyone in Madinah knew each other. A local nobody knows, who is not a traveler? Who could he be?
Keep the mystery. We will find out who he was at the end of the story — just like the Companions did.
Ask the students to guess before revealing. Older students: the hadith is narrated by 'Umar and recorded by Imam Muslim as the first hadith of the Book of Iman in his Sahih (no. 8 in the standard numbering). Imam al-Nawawi made it hadith no. 2 of his Forty Hadith.
He sat close and asked
He sat right in front of the Prophet ﷺ, knees touching his knees, put his hands on his thighs, and asked: “O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.” Then about Iman, then Ihsan, then the Hour and its signs.
Look your best
He came clean and neat. We come to the masjid and class clean and neat too.
Clean, white clothes: respect for knowledge shows even in how you dress for class, the masjid and salah.
Sit close, pay attention
He sat close and listened. No phones, no talking — full attention!
Sitting close shows eagerness and focus. Distance — and distraction — kill learning.
Ask good questions
He asked short, important questions. Asking is a big part of learning.
Jibril asked questions he already knew the answers to, so that others would learn. A good question can teach a whole room.
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, in Jami' al-'Ulum wal-Hikam, explains that this one hadith gathers the whole religion: the outward actions (Islam), the inner beliefs (Iman), and the highest level of both (Ihsan).
Model the manners: ask the class to sit up, put phones/papers away. Ask: "Why would someone ask a question he already knows the answer to?"
The Hadith of Jibril
Elementary: read only the bold English parts aloud. Middle/High: have a student read the Arabic of the three answers. The phrase "He came to teach you your religion" means these three levels are the religion — that is our map for the whole lesson.
Three levels, one religion
Think of a tree 🌳
- Iman is the roots — hidden in your heart.
- Islam is the trunk and branches — the actions everyone can see.
- Ihsan is the best, sweetest fruit — doing everything beautifully for Allah.
Tap a circle to jump to that part!
Islam — the outward actions of the limbs and tongue. Iman — the inner beliefs of the heart. Ihsan — the highest level, perfecting both.
Each level is wider than the one inside it: every muhsin is a mu'min, and every mu'min is a muslim — but not the other way round.
The Bedouins had entered Islam outwardly, but Iman had not yet settled in their hearts — proof that Islam and Iman are levels. (When the two words come separately, each one includes the other.)
Point students to the circles: tapping a circle jumps to that section. Scholars note: when "Islam" and "Iman" are mentioned together (as in this hadith), Islam means outward deeds and Iman means inner belief; when mentioned alone, each includes the other.
Islam
Islam means submission: giving yourself completely to Allah — with tawhid, with obedience, and by staying away from shirk.
Definition used by Ibn 'Uthaymeen (Sharh Thalathat al-Usul): Islam is submitting to Allah with tawhid, yielding to Him with obedience, and freeing oneself from shirk and its people.
Built on five pillars
A house needs strong pillars. If a pillar falls, the house is in danger. Our Islam is the same!
A building is more than its pillars — walls, roof, decoration — but without the pillars nothing stands. The other good deeds of Islam complete the building; the five hold it up.
Tapping a pillar jumps to it. Ask: "Which pillar do you think holds the most weight?" (Answer: the Shahadah is the foundation; Salah is called the "pillar" ('amud) of the religion.)
The Shahadah
Not just words we say — a promise we live every single day.
What does la ilaha illa-llah really mean?
la ilaha
“No god worthy of worship…”
We say NO to worshipping anything else: no idols, no stars, no people, no money.
Negation (nafy): every false object of worship is rejected — idols, graves, saints, desires, money, fame.
illa-llah
“…except Allah.”
We say YES to Allah alone. All our worship is only for Him.
Affirmation (ithbat): all worship belongs to Allah alone, with no partner.
Ilah means the One who is worshipped — loved, obeyed, feared and hoped in with complete humility. So the correct meaning is: “None has the right to be worshipped except Allah.”
Imam al-Bukhari titled a chapter with this verse: “Knowledge comes before speech and action.” You must know what you are saying.
Key point for older students: "there is no god but Allah" is only correct if it means "no true god / none deserves worship" — because people do worship false gods. The Shahadah denies that they deserve it.
Believing Allah created you is not enough
The people of Makkah long ago knew that Allah made them. But they still prayed to idols to “get closer” to Allah. That is why they were not Muslims. Islam means worshipping only Allah.
The idol-worshippers of Makkah affirmed that Allah is the Creator, Provider and Controller — yet the Prophet ﷺ fought against their shirk, because they directed worship (du'a, sacrifice, vows) to others “to bring them closer to Allah.” The Shahadah is about worship, not only about belief in a Creator.
This is the difference between Tawhid al-Rububiyyah (Allah alone creates and controls) and Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah (Allah alone is worshipped). The second is what the messengers called to. We will come back to this in "Belief in Allah".
A key needs teeth
Wahb ibn Munabbih was asked: “Isn't lā ilāha illa-llāh the key to Paradise?” He said: “Yes — but every key has teeth. If you bring a key with teeth, the door opens for you; if not, it won't open.” (Mentioned by al-Bukhari in his Sahih, Book of Funerals, ch. 1, without a chain.)
Here are the “teeth” of our key. Tap each one!
Scholars gathered from the Qur'an and Sunnah the conditions (shurūṭ) that make the Shahadah count. Tap each tooth:
Knowledge
Knowing what it means — not like a parrot. (47:19)فَٱعۡلَمۡ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمۡ وَمَثۡوَىٰكُمۡ ﴿١٩﴾So know, [O Muhammad], that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows of your movement and your resting place. — Surat Muhammad 47:19
Certainty
No doubt at all in your heart. (49:15)إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَرۡتَابُواْ وَجَٰهَدُواْ بِأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ وَأَنفُسِهِمۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ ﴿١٥﴾The believers are only the ones who have believed in Allah and His Messenger and then doubt not but strive with their properties and their lives in the cause of Allah. It is those who are the truthful. — Surat Al-Hujurat 49:15
Sincerity
Saying it for Allah — not for people or benefit. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position." Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever. — Surat Az-Zumar 39:3
Truthfulness
Meaning it — the heart agrees with the tongue, unlike the hypocrites. (63:1)إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقُونَ قَالُواْ نَشۡهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ يَشۡهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَكَٰذِبُونَ ﴿١﴾When the hypocrites come to you, [O Muhammad], they say, "We testify that you are the Messenger of Allah." And Allah knows that you are His Messenger, and Allah testifies that the hypocrites are liars. — Surat Al-Munafiqun 63:1
Love
Loving Allah, this word and its people more than anything. (2:165)وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَندَادٗا يُحِبُّونَهُمۡ كَحُبِّ ٱللَّهِۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَشَدُّ حُبّٗا لِّلَّهِۗ وَلَوۡ يَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ إِذۡ يَرَوۡنَ ٱلۡعَذَابَ أَنَّ ٱلۡقُوَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعٗا وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ﴿١٦٥﴾And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah. But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah. And if only they who have wronged would consider [that] when they see the punishment, [they will be certain] that all power belongs to Allah and that Allah is severe in punishment. — Surat Al-Baqarah 2:165
Submission
Obeying — actually doing what Allah commands. (31:22)۞وَمَن يُسۡلِمۡ وَجۡهَهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحۡسِنٞ فَقَدِ ٱسۡتَمۡسَكَ بِٱلۡعُرۡوَةِ ٱلۡوُثۡقَىٰۗ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡأُمُورِ ﴿٢٢﴾And whoever submits his face to Allah while he is a doer of good - then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold. And to Allah will be the outcome of [all] matters. — Surat Luqman 31:22
Acceptance
Accepting all of it — not picking only what you like. (37:35)إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوٓاْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant. — Surat As-Saffat 37:35
Rejecting false gods
Disbelieving in everything worshipped besides Allah. (2:256)لَآ إِكۡرَاهَ فِي ٱلدِّينِۖ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ ٱلرُّشۡدُ مِنَ ٱلۡغَيِّۚ فَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِٱلطَّـٰغُوتِ وَيُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱسۡتَمۡسَكَ بِٱلۡعُرۡوَةِ ٱلۡوُثۡقَىٰ لَا ٱنفِصَامَ لَهَاۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ ﴿٢٥٦﴾There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. — Surat Al-Baqarah 2:256
Elementary: focus on Knowledge, Sincerity, Love, Submission. The verse numbers are given so older students can look them up. Many scholars list seven conditions and add the eighth (kufr bit-taghut) from 2:256.
How do I live la ilaha illa-llah?
Ask only Allah
Du'a is worship. When you need help with a test, health or family — you ask Allah directly. No middle-man needed.
Love what He loves
Your favorite things, friends and trends must never come before what Allah loves.
Obey Him first
When a friend, a game or a trend says one thing and Allah says another — Allah wins. Every time.
Rely on Him
Study hard, then trust Allah with the result. Do your part, leave the rest to Him.
Fear only Him
Not “curses,” charms or bad luck. Natural fear is normal, but nothing harms you except by Allah's permission.
Say it, feel it
Repeat it in your morning and evening adhkar and after salah — and think of its meaning each time.
Point out that Ibn 'Abbas was a young boy riding behind the Prophet ﷺ when he heard this — the Prophet taught tawhid to children. Ask each student to name one "real-life" way they will live the Shahadah this week.
“…and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”
Saying this means: I love him, I believe him, I follow him, and I worship Allah the way he taught us.
Scholars summarize the meaning in four duties:
Obey
Do what he commanded.
Believe
Accept what he told us as true.
Avoid
Stay away from what he forbade.
Follow
Worship Allah only the way he showed — no invented acts of worship.
Two conditions for any deed to be accepted: (1) sincerity — for Allah alone (the first half of the Shahadah), and (2) following the Prophet ﷺ — done his way (the second half).
Connect: the first half protects your worship from shirk; the second half protects it from bid'ah (innovation). Both halves together = an accepted deed.
Shirk: the biggest wrong
Shirk means giving any part of worship — or anything that belongs only to Allah — to someone or something else.
If someone fed you and clothed you, and you went and thanked someone else, that would be ugly. Allah gave you your eyes, your family and everything you have, so shirk is far, far worse than that.
What counts as worship? Anything Allah loves and is pleased with, of words and actions, inner and outer. For example:
Du'aProstrationSacrificeVowsReliance (tawakkul)Fear of the unseenHopeLove of worshipSeeking refuge
Giving any of these to other than Allah is shirk.
Good news: Allah forgives every sin — even shirk — for the one who repents before death (39:53)۞قُلۡ يَٰعِبَادِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسۡرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ﴿٥٣﴾Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful. — Surat Az-Zumar 39:53. The earlier verse about not forgiving shirk is about the one who dies upon shirk.
Make sure students don't leave scared: the door of tawbah is open. The aim is to recognize shirk and protect ourselves.
Types of shirk
Major shirk
Takes a person out of Islam.
Examples: making du'a to the dead, saints or graves; sacrificing or vowing for other than Allah; believing someone besides Allah controls the universe or knows the unseen; loving anything like you love Allah.
Minor shirk
Does not take a person out of Islam, but is worse than the major sins.
Examples: swearing by other than Allah (“I swear on my mom!”); saying “whatever Allah and you will” instead of “whatever Allah wills, then you”; wearing charms for protection while believing they are only a means; a little showing-off (riya').
Hidden shirk
Lives in the heart — others can't see it.
The main example: riya' — doing worship so people see and praise you. The Prophet ﷺ feared it for his Companions more than anything else.
Scholars (e.g. Ibn 'Uthaymeen) divide shirk into major and minor; "hidden shirk" describes shirk of the heart such as riya', which is usually minor. Keep the focus practical. If a student mentions relatives who visit shrines, respond gently: teach the ruling, not judgments about specific people.
Riya': worship for an audience
Riya' means doing a good deed so people will say “Wow!” — instead of doing it for Allah.
Riya' is doing an act of worship — or beautifying it — so that people see and praise you. Its cousin sum'ah is doing it so people hear about it.
A scary story: The Prophet ﷺ told us that among the first judged on the Day of Judgment are a man who fought, a man who learned and recited the Qur'an, and a man who gave charity — all done so people would say “brave”, “scholar”, “generous.” Allah tells each: “It was said — and you got what you wanted,” and they are thrown into the Fire. (Summary of Sahih Muslim 1905)
The Companions feared riya' even though they were the most sincere people. That is a sign of a living heart. Elementary: skip the Muslim 1905 story (it is shown only on Middle & High).
You be the judge
Pause after each case and let students vote with hands before tapping.
How to protect your heart
Check your intention
Before, during and after a deed ask: “Who is this for?”
Have secret deeds
Keep some good deeds that only Allah knows: a sunnah prayer at night, quiet charity, a du'a for a friend.
Remember who sees
People's praise can't put you in Paradise, and their blame can't put you in the Fire. Only Allah's view of you matters. (This is Ihsan — coming later!)
Make this du'a
“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from associating anything with You knowingly, and I ask Your forgiveness for what I do not know.”
Teach the du'a — have students repeat it three times. Note: a passing thought of showing off that you push away does not ruin the deed; what harms is the intention you accept and act on.
Spot the shirk around us
Some things look “normal” or “just for fun” — but they touch our tawhid. Tap each card.
🚫 Horoscopes & zodiac
“What does my sign say today?”
Only Allah knows the unseen (27:65)قُل لَّا يَعۡلَمُ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡغَيۡبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۚ وَمَا يَشۡعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبۡعَثُونَ ﴿٦٥﴾Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected. — Surat An-Naml 27:65. The Prophet ﷺ said: whoever goes to a fortune-teller and asks him about something, his prayer is not accepted for forty nights (Muslim 2230). Believing them means disowning what was revealed to Muhammad ﷺ (Abu Dawud 3904, sahih).
🚫 Psychics, tarot, Ouija
“It's just a game…”
These claim knowledge of the unseen or contact with spirits. Not a game — stay far away, even “for fun.”
🚫 Lucky charms
Evil-eye beads, horseshoes, a “lucky” jersey
“Whoever hangs up an amulet has committed shirk” (Ahmad 17422 — strong chain, al-Arna'ut). Protection comes from Allah: Ayat al-Kursi, the last three surahs, morning & evening adhkar.
🚫 Bad omens
Friday the 13th, black cats, “knock on wood”
The Prophet ﷺ said “Taking bad omens is shirk” three times (Abu Dawud 3910, sahih). Ibn Mas'ud added that everyone feels some of it, “but Allah removes it through trust in Him.” (Abu Dawud 3910, sahih). No day, number or animal brings bad luck.
"Not accepted for forty nights" means no reward for those prayers, though the obligation is still fulfilled (al-Nawawi). The phrase "Every one of us feels something of it…" is considered by many scholars to be Ibn Mas'ud's words added to the hadith — you can mention this to older students.
What is your heart hanging on?
Sometimes our heart holds on too tight to something: likes on a video, a toy, a game, money, a famous person. Loving things is okay — but nothing should be loved like Allah, or make us disobey Him.
Shirk is not only statues. A heart can become a servant of likes, followers, money, a person, or a sports star — when that thing is loved like Allah is loved, obeyed over Allah, or relied upon as if it controls your future.
Normal love ✔
Loving your parents, your friends, your favorite food — this is natural and fine, and can even be worship when it is for Allah.
Danger zone ✖
When that love makes you skip salah, disobey Allah, or feel your life is over without it. When your mood rises and falls with the “likes.”
Notice: the birds still fly out. Tawakkul = take the means + rely on Allah, not on the means.
Ask: "What do you check first when you wake up?" Use it to discuss attachment gently, without shaming.
Tawhid in real life
Emphasize manners: tawhid is firm, but our tone is gentle — especially with family.
Shahadah & shirk quiz
Salah
The only pillar Allah gave His Messenger above the seven heavens — your daily meeting with your Lord.
Salah is the pillar of the religion
The first question
“The first of a servant's deeds he will be judged for on the Day of Resurrection is his prayer. If it is sound, he has succeeded; if it is corrupt, he has failed and lost.”
The dividing line
إِنَّ بَيْنَ الرَّجُلِ وَبَيْنَ الشِّرْكِ وَالْكُفْرِ تَرْكَ الصَّلَاةِ
“Between a man and shirk and disbelief is abandoning the prayer.”
His last advice
الصَّلَاةَ الصَّلَاةَ، اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ فِيمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ
Among the last words of the Prophet ﷺ: “The prayer, the prayer! And fear Allah regarding those under your care.”
It never drops (except for a woman during her period or postnatal bleeding). A sick person prays sitting, or lying down; a traveler shortens it; in fear we still pray. Fasting can be delayed and zakah and Hajj depend on wealth — but as long as you are conscious, salah stays.
Tap the three cards one by one. Ask: "If the first question on the test is about salah, how should we prepare?"
When — and where — was salah given?
Salah was not sent down to earth like other commands. Allah took the Prophet ﷺ up to the heavens to give it to him! Tap “Next” to follow the journey.
Every other pillar was revealed on earth through Jibril. Salah alone was given directly by Allah to His Messenger ﷺ above the seven heavens, on the night of al-Isra' wal-Mi'raj in Makkah, before the Hijrah. Follow the journey:
🌧️ A year of sadness
The Prophet ﷺ lost his beloved wife Khadijah and his uncle Abu Talib, and was rejected and hurt in al-Ta'if. Many scholars of the Sirah place the Night Journey after these hardships.
🕋 → 🕌 al-Isra'
In one night, he was taken from al-Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to al-Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem, where he led the prophets in prayer.
✨ al-Mi'raj
He was raised through the seven heavens with Jibril, meeting prophets — Adam, 'Isa, Yahya, Yusuf, Idris, Harun, Musa and Ibrahim, peace be upon them.
🌿 Sidrat al-Muntaha
He reached the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary (Sidrat al-Muntaha), and was raised to a level where he heard the scratching of the pens.
📜 Fifty prayers
Allah made fifty prayers a day obligatory on his Ummah.
🔁 Musa's advice
Musa عليه السلام said: “Your Ummah cannot bear that — go back and ask for less.” He went back again and again.
⭐ Five — worth fifty
It became five prayers, with the reward of fifty. “My Word does not change.”
Scholars differ about the exact date of the Isra' and Mi'raj; many say it was about one to three years before the Hijrah. What matters is the event itself, which is certain from the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah.
Keep the timeline moving with "Next." Avoid adding popular details that are not authentic. The list of prophets in each heaven is in Sahih al-Bukhari 3207 and Sahih Muslim 162.
Five that weigh fifty
Do the math 🧮
Five prayers × reward of ten each = fifty. Allah lightened the action and kept the reward. That is His mercy.
Two more facts
At first prayers were two rak'ahs each; after the Hijrah, Dhuhr, 'Asr and 'Isha for residents became four, and the traveler's prayer stayed two (Bukhari 3935, from 'Aishah). Jibril then came and led the Prophet ﷺ in the five prayers at their times, on two days, by the Ka'bah, to teach him the times (Abu Dawud 393 – hasan sahih).
The "five worth fifty" is also linked to the principle that one good deed is rewarded tenfold (6:160)مَن جَآءَ بِٱلۡحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ عَشۡرُ أَمۡثَالِهَاۖ وَمَن جَآءَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجۡزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثۡلَهَا وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ ﴿١٦٠﴾Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit], and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof; and they will not be wronged. — Surat Al-An'am 6:160.
What does this story tell us?
The highest place
Allah did not send salah down with an angel — He called His Messenger up to Him to receive it. Nothing shows its rank more clearly.
Allah loves it
It began as fifty. Allah wanted so much of it from us — and kept the reward of fifty out of mercy.
Comfort after hardship
It came after a year of grief. Salah is where the Prophet ﷺ found rest:
يَا بِلَالُ، أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ، أَرِحْنَا بِهَا
“O Bilal, call the iqamah — give us rest through it.” Abu Dawud 4985 · Sahih (al-Albani)
The coolness of his eyes
وَجُعِلَتْ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ
“…and the coolness of my eyes was placed in the prayer.” al-Nasa'i 3939 · Hasan Sahih (al-Albani)
Salah is not a burden we escape from — it is the place we escape to.
Learn from those before
Musa عليه السلام had experience with Bani Isra'il. Listening to the experience of righteous people is wisdom.
Only five!
If our Ummah would struggle even with five, how much do we need to protect them? “Five” is the minimum of a Muslim's day, not the maximum.
Ask: "When you're stressed (exams, family problems), what do you usually do? What did the Prophet ﷺ do?"
Salah in the Qur'an
"Woe to those who pray but are heedless of their prayer" (107:4–5) — many of the Salaf explained it as delaying the prayer past its time. Even people who pray can lose out by neglecting it. 74:42–43 is the people of Hell explaining why they are there: "We were not of those who prayed."
What salah gives you
Your daily “reset”
Five times a day you get washed clean, get close to Allah, and can ask Him for anything in sujud. Who would miss that?
Fajr starts your day with Allah; Dhuhr breaks your school day; 'Asr is the one most people miss (protect it!); Maghrib ends the day; 'Isha closes it. Your day is literally built around your Lord.
Challenge idea: learn one new du'a from the Sunnah for sujud this week (e.g. “Rabbighfir lī”). Du'a in one's own language inside the obligatory prayer is a matter of scholarly difference; it is fine in sunnah prayers and outside salah.
What about someone who leaves salah?
Agreed by all scholars
- Whoever denies that salah is obligatory is not a Muslim.
- Leaving it is far worse than stealing, lying or any major sin.
Out of laziness?
Scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah differ: many — including Imam Ahmad in his well-known view, and reports from the Companions — held that it is disbelief; Imams Malik, al-Shafi'i and Abu Hanifah held that it is a grave major sin, not disbelief. Either way, it is a danger no Muslim should come near.
Never leave it!
Leaving salah is one of the most dangerous things a person can do. The Prophet ﷺ made it the line between Islam and kufr.
Forgot a prayer or slept through it? Don't give up — pray it as soon as you remember: “Whoever forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it; there is no expiation for it except that.” (Bukhari 597, Muslim 684). Then make tawbah and protect the next one.
Handle this gently: some students live in homes where parents don't pray. Teach the ruling, but never label specific people. Emphasize hope and returning.
A mystery man walks in! 🔎
One day, the Prophet ﷺ was sitting with his friends, the Companions. Suddenly, a man walked in. Something was strange about him. Tap each clue!
Super white clothes
So clean! Not dusty at all.
Very black hair
Neat and shiny. No messy travel hair.
Not a traveler
So he must live in the city… right?
Nobody knew him!
But everybody in the city knew each other. Who is he?!
🔒 Keep the secret! We will find out who he was at the end.
Let the children guess. Don't reveal the answer — it comes on the last story slide. The story is in Sahih Muslim (no. 8), told by 'Umar ibn al-Khattab.
He showed us how to learn
He sat very close to the Prophet ﷺ, knees touching knees, put his hands on his legs, and asked questions.
Be clean
Come to class and the masjid clean and neat.
Sit close and listen
Eyes on the teacher. No talking, no playing.
Ask good questions
Asking helps you and your friends learn.
Practice now: "Show me how a good learner sits!"
He asked three big questions
“What is Islam?”
The Prophet ﷺ said: say the Shahadah, pray, give zakah, fast Ramadan, and go to Hajj if you can.
“What is Iman?”
To believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and al-Qadar.
“What is Ihsan?”
To worship Allah as if you see Him. And if you can't see Him — He sees you.
After each answer, the man said: “You are right!” The Companions were surprised: why ask, if you already know? ❓
Have the class repeat: "Islam — Iman — Ihsan." Ask: "Why would someone ask a question he already knows?" (To teach others!)

Islam
Islam means giving yourself to Allah: worshipping only Him and obeying Him.
Islam stands on five pillars
If a pillar breaks, the house is in danger. Let's keep all five strong! 💪
The most important sentence
❌ lā ilāha — “NO!”
NO to worshipping anything else: no idols, no stars, no people, no lucky charms.
✅ illa-llāh — “YES!”
YES to Allah alone. All my worship is only for Him.
To worship means things like praying, making du'a, loving Allah the most, and obeying Him.
Do the "NO / YES" with hand signs: shake head for "lā ilāha", point one finger up for "illa-llāh".
How do I live it every day?
Ask only Allah
Need help? Talk to Allah. He always hears you.
Love Allah the most
More than toys, games, or anything!
Obey Allah first
If a friend says “do something wrong” — Allah comes first.
Trust Allah
Try your best, then leave the rest to Allah.
Trust Allah when scared
Nothing can hurt you unless Allah allows it. Say Bismillah and read your adhkar.
Say it often
In your morning and evening adhkar and after salah.
“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah” ﷺ
This means:
I love him
More than anyone in the world.
I believe him
Everything he told us is true.
I follow him
I do what he said and stay away from what he forbade.
I pray like him
We worship Allah the way he taught us — not new ways people made up.
Shirk: the biggest wrong
A wise man named Luqman gave his son advice. The very first thing he said was:
Shirk means worshipping someone or something together with Allah — like praying to a statue, or asking a dead person for help.
If someone gave you a beautiful gift and you said “thank you” to somebody else, that would be wrong. Allah gave you everything: your eyes, your family, your food. Shirk is much worse than that!
Good news: if a person makes tawbah (says sorry to Allah and stops), Allah forgives everything. (39:53)۞قُلۡ يَٰعِبَادِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسۡرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ﴿٥٣﴾Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful. — Surat Az-Zumar 39:53
Luqman's advice to his son is a wonderful frame for children: a loving father teaching tawhid first.
Who are you doing it for? ❓
Riya' (showing off) means doing a good deed so people will say “Wow!” — instead of doing it for Allah.
The Prophet ﷺ was worried about riya' for his Companions more than many other things. Allah only rewards what is done for Him.
Ask yourself
“Who am I doing this for?”
Secret good deeds
Do some good things that only Allah knows about.
Remember
Allah sees me. That's enough!
For Allah — or for people?
Things that are NOT okay
Some things look “normal” or “just for fun” — but they hurt our tawhid. Tap each card.
🚫 Lucky charms
“This bracelet protects me!”
Only Allah protects. A bracelet can't. We read Ayat al-Kursi and the last three surahs instead.
🚫 Horoscopes
“What does my star sign say?”
Only Allah knows the future. Stars can't tell us what will happen.
🚫 Bad luck
Black cats, Friday the 13th
No animal, day, or number brings bad luck. Everything happens by Allah's will. The Prophet ﷺ said believing in bad omens is shirk (Abu Dawud 3910).
🚫 “I swear on my mom!”
Swearing by people
We only swear by Allah — and only when we really need to. (Tirmidhi 1535)
Tawhid at school and at home
Stress respect for elders: we never shout at or embarrass family members; we explain gently.
Shahadah quiz ⭐
Salah
Five times a day, you get to talk to Allah! 🤲
Salah is super important
The main pillar
The Prophet ﷺ called salah the pillar of Islam. (Tirmidhi 2616)
The first question
On the Day of Judgment, the first of our deeds Allah asks about is our salah. (Tirmidhi 413)
His last advice
One of the last things the Prophet ﷺ said was: “The prayer! The prayer!” (Abu Dawud 5156)
Your salah journey starts now! 🌟
The amazing night journey ✨
Salah is so special that Allah did not send it down to earth like other commands. He took the Prophet ﷺ up to the heavens to give it to him! Tap “Next”.
🌧️ Hard times
Many scholars say this happened after a very sad time: the Prophet ﷺ lost his wife Khadijah and his uncle Abu Talib, and people in al-Ta'if were mean to him.
🌙 One night…
He rode al-Buraq — a white animal a bit smaller than a mule — from Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem.
🕌 Leading the prophets
There he led the prophets in prayer.
☁️ Up through the seven heavens
With Jibril, he met prophets like Adam, 'Isa, Yusuf, Musa and Ibrahim.
📜 Fifty prayers!
Allah gave his Ummah fifty prayers every day.
🔁 Musa's advice
Prophet Musa said: “Your people can't do that much. Go back and ask for less!” He went back again and again.
⭐ Five — worth fifty!
It became five prayers — with the reward of fifty!
The journey (al-Isra') and ascension (al-Mi'raj) are in Sahih al-Bukhari 3207 and Sahih Muslim 162; leading the prophets in prayer is in Sahih Muslim 172. Many Sirah scholars place it after the "Year of Sadness"; the exact date is not certain.
5 prayers = reward of 50! 🧮
Do the math
5 × 10 = 50
Each good deed is rewarded ten times. So five prayers give the reward of fifty!
What this teaches us
- Salah is very special — it was given in the heavens.
- Allah loves our salah.
- Allah is so kind: less work, same reward!
What salah gives you 🎁
A clean heart
The Prophet ﷺ said salah is like a river at your door: wash five times a day and no dirt stays. Salah washes away sins! (Bukhari 528, Muslim 667)
Super close to Allah
أَقْرَبُ مَا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ
“You are closest to Allah in sujud.” Make du'a there! (Muslim 482)
Peace and rest
يَا بِلَالُ، أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ، أَرِحْنَا بِهَا
“O Bilal, call for the prayer — give us rest with it!” (Abu Dawud 4985 · sahih)
Al-Fatihah is a conversation!
Allah says in a hadith qudsi: “I have divided the prayer between Myself and My servant into two halves, and My servant will have what he asks for.” (Sahih Muslim 395). Tap each line to hear Allah's reply.
Notice the center: “You alone we worship” is lā ilāha illa-llāh; “You alone we ask for help” is tawakkul. You renew your Shahadah at least 17 times a day!
Ask students to pause slightly after each verse in their next salah, imagining Allah's reply.
Every position has a message
Allahu Akbar
Opening takbir
Allah is greater — than your phone, your game, your test, your worries. Leave the whole world behind your hands.
Standing
Qiyam & recitation
You stand before the King of kings, talking to Him with His own words.
Ruku'
Subḥāna Rabbiyal-'Aẓīm
You bow your back — the proud part of the body — and declare your Lord free of every fault, the Most Great.
Rising
Sami'a-llāhu liman ḥamidah
“Allah hears the one who praises Him” — so you immediately praise Him: Rabbanā wa lakal-ḥamd.
Sujud
Subḥāna Rabbiyal-A'lā
Your highest part (your face) on the lowest place — while saying “my Lord, the Most High.” The closest you will ever be. Make du'a!
Tashahhud & Salam
At-taḥiyyātu lillāh…
You declare that all greetings and reverence belong to Allah, send salam on the Prophet ﷺ and the righteous, renew the Shahadah, and leave with peace to everyone around you.
Don't rush! A man prayed quickly and the Prophet ﷺ told him three times: “Go back and pray, for you have not prayed,” then taught him to be still in every position (Bukhari 757, Muslim 397). The Prophet ﷺ also called the one who doesn't complete his ruku' and sujud the worst thief — he steals from his own prayer (Ahmad 22642, sahih).
Practical: count "Subhana Rabbiyal-'Azim" slowly three times; check that the back is straight and still in ruku'. Stillness (tuma'ninah) is a pillar of salah.
Salah at school, games, and everywhere
Know the times
Use a prayer-times app or the masjid calendar. In winter Dhuhr, 'Asr and Maghrib are close together — plan ahead.
Ask politely
Most teachers and coaches respect a polite request: “May I take five minutes to pray?” Ask early, not at the last second.
Keep wudu
Make wudu at home and try to keep it. Wipe over socks when allowed. Carry a small water bottle.
Practice & games
Pray before practice starts if the time has entered, or step aside during a break. Salah doesn't have to stop your sports.
At friends' houses
Ask: “Where can I pray?” A Muslim praying calmly is beautiful da'wah.
In public
A park, a store's quiet corner, the side of a field — the whole earth is a masjid for us, except bathrooms and graveyards (Bukhari 335, Abu Dawud 492). Be confident, not shy.
The Prophet ﷺ said children should be taught to pray from the age of seven (Abu Dawud 495 – hasan sahih). Your salah journey starts now!
Sick or traveling? “When a servant is sick or traveling, he is written the reward of what he used to do while healthy at home” (Bukhari 2996) — keep good habits now, and they keep paying you later.
Ask students to share where they have prayed in public. Celebrate it. For students who are shy, role-play asking a teacher.
I can pray anywhere! 🌍
Know the times
Ask your parents or check the masjid calendar.
Ask nicely
“Excuse me, may I take five minutes to pray?”
Keep your wudu
Make wudu before you leave home.
Pray anywhere clean
The park, the side of a field — the whole earth is a masjid for us, except bathrooms and graveyards! (Bukhari 335, Abu Dawud 492)
Don't be shy
You are talking to Allah. Be proud!
Forgot or overslept?
Pray it as soon as you remember. (Bukhari 597)
Salah under pressure
Salah quiz
Zakah
Zakah means purification and growth — it cleans your heart and makes your wealth blessed.
What is zakah?
Zakah is a small part of a Muslim's savings given every year to people in need. It's not a gift we choose — it's a right of the poor that Allah put in our money.
When?
Made obligatory in Madinah after the Hijrah (many scholars say in the 2nd year). In the Qur'an it is mentioned side by side with salah again and again.
Who pays?
A Muslim whose savings reach the minimum amount (nisab) and stay for one full lunar year.
How much?
2.5% (one-fortieth) of saved money, gold, silver and trade goods.
Nisab: the value of 20 mithqal of gold (about 85 grams) or 200 dirhams of silver (about 595 grams). Details of other kinds of wealth (crops, livestock, etc.) are studied in fiqh.
Only the points agreed upon are presented here. For specific calculations, students and parents should consult a trusted local scholar.
Eight groups receive zakah
The poor
al-fuqara'
The needy
al-masakin
Zakah workers
collectors & distributors
Hearts to be won
new Muslims & others
Freeing captives
slaves & prisoners
People in debt
al-gharimin
In Allah's cause
fi sabilillah
Stranded travelers
ibn al-sabil
Point out that Allah Himself named the recipients — no one may change them.
Giving never makes you poorer
A warning: The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever is given wealth by Allah and does not pay its zakah, his wealth will be turned into a huge bald snake on the Day of Resurrection, coiling around his neck and saying: “I am your wealth, I am your treasure.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 1403)
Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه fought those who refused to pay zakah after the Prophet's death, saying he would not separate what Allah joined together: salah and zakah.
I'm a kid — how do I live zakah?
Zakat al-Fitr
At the end of Ramadan, it is paid for every Muslim — even babies! Ask your parents to let you hand it over.
Sadaqah from allowance
Keep a “sadaqah jar.” Even one dollar a week builds a generous heart.
Share
Share your lunch, donate toys and clothes you've outgrown, help a classmate with supplies.
Keep it secret
Give so that even your left hand doesn't know. No posting, no bragging.
Clean heart
Zakah cleans the heart from stinginess and greed. “Whoever is saved from the greed of his soul — they are the successful.” (59:9)وَٱلَّذِينَ تَبَوَّءُو ٱلدَّارَ وَٱلۡإِيمَٰنَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ يُحِبُّونَ مَنۡ هَاجَرَ إِلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ فِي صُدُورِهِمۡ حَاجَةٗ مِّمَّآ أُوتُواْ وَيُؤۡثِرُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَلَوۡ كَانَ بِهِمۡ خَصَاصَةٞۚ وَمَن يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفۡسِهِۦ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ ﴿٩﴾And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful. — Surat Al-Hashr 59:9
Smile!
Every good deed is charity — a smile, helping your mom, picking up trash.
Fasting Ramadan
A secret between you and Allah — training your heart for taqwa.
Why do we fast? So that you may have taqwa
When was it obligated?
In Madinah, in the 2nd year after the Hijrah (in Sha'ban), so the Prophet ﷺ fasted nine Ramadans.
What is taqwa?
Being careful with Allah: doing what He loves and staying away from what He hates — even when nobody sees.
Putting a shield between yourself and Allah's anger by obeying Him and avoiding what He forbade. Fasting trains it: if you can leave halal food for Allah, you can leave haram for Him.
The worship nobody can see
People can see you pray or give charity. But nobody can see if you are really fasting — you could drink water alone in your room! Only Allah knows. That's why fasting is special.
Scholars explain: fasting is a hidden act — riya' can hardly enter it — and it is pure patience. That is why Allah attached it to Himself. Fasting is a daily lesson in Ihsan: you leave the cold drink because He sees you.
Fasting is more than skipping lunch
👅 Tongue
No lying, gossip, insults, or bad words — even in gaming chat.
👀 Eyes
Guard what you watch and scroll.
👂 Ears
Fill them with Qur'an instead of junk.
❤️ Heart
No grudges or jealousy. If someone fights you, say: “I am fasting.”
The instruction "say: I am fasting" is in the same hadith in Bukhari 1904.
Fasting as a young Muslim in America
The Companions trained their kids
al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh: “We would make our children fast and make toys of wool for them; when one cried for food we gave him the toy until it was time to break the fast.”
Tips
- Lunch period? Go to the library or a quiet room — read Qur'an.
- Sports? Talk to your coach early; train lighter; hydrate well at suhur.
- Friends ask why? “I fast to get closer to God and feel for the hungry.” Easy and true.
- Long summer days? Eat suhur — there is barakah in it (Bukhari 1923).
- Keep fasting outside Ramadan: the Day of 'Arafah wipes out the sins of two years (Muslim 1162).
Hajj
A journey of tawhid — answering the call of Ibrahim عليه السلام.
Hajj — once in a lifetime, for those who are able
When was it obligated?
In Madinah; scholars differ on the year — some say 6 AH, others 9 or 10 AH. The Prophet ﷺ performed only one Hajj: the Farewell Hajj, in 10 AH.
Only once
A man asked, “Every year, O Messenger of Allah?” He ﷺ said:
لَوْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ لَوَجَبَتْ، وَلَمَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
“If I had said yes, it would have become obligatory, and you would not have been able to do it.” Sahih Muslim 1337 Sahih
Notice: “for Allah” — even Hajj, the biggest journey of your life, is worthless if it's for a title or photos.
Every step of Hajj shouts tawhid
🕋 Ibrahim's house
The Ka'bah was built by Ibrahim and Isma'il on pure tawhid. Hajj is answering Ibrahim's call (22:27)وَأَذِّن فِي ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلۡحَجِّ يَأۡتُوكَ رِجَالٗا وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ ضَامِرٖ يَأۡتِينَ مِن كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقٖ ﴿٢٧﴾And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass. — Surat Al-Hajj 22:27.
⚪ Simple ihram
Two white sheets for men, simple modest dress for women — king or worker, everyone looks alike before Allah. A preview of the Day of Gathering.
🏔️ 'Arafah
Millions standing, asking Allah only. The best du'a is the du'a of the Day of 'Arafah.
The idol-worshippers of Makkah used to add to the Talbiyah: “…except a partner who is Yours.” The Prophet ﷺ restored it to pure tawhid. Every pillar of Islam points back to lā ilāha illa-llāh.
The pre-Islamic addition to the Talbiyah is reported in Sahih Muslim 1185.
How do I live Hajj before I go?
Intend it
Make a sincere intention and du'a: “O Allah, let me perform Hajj.”
Save for it
Start a Hajj savings fund — even small amounts.
A savings jar for Hajj is a great start!
The best 10 days
No days are better for good deeds than the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah (Bukhari 969). Fast, give, say takbir.
Fast 'Arafah
It expiates the sins of the year before and the year after (Muslim 1162).
Udhiyah
Join your family's sacrifice — for Allah alone, following Ibrahim.
Learn the rites
Know what tawaf, sa'y, 'Arafah, Muzdalifah and the stoning mean.
Zakah: sharing what Allah gave us 💚
Zakah means cleaning and growing. Grown-ups who have saved enough money give a small part of it every year to people who need it.
How much?
Only $2.50 from every $100 saved for a whole year.
It cleans
It cleans the heart from being greedy.
It grows

The Companions' kids fasted too!
The Companions taught their children to fast. When a child cried from hunger, they gave him a toy made of wool to play with until it was time to eat! (Bukhari 1960, Muslim 1136)
Fasting is not obligatory before puberty; praise children who try half-days or a few hours, as the Companions trained their children.
Hajj: the trip of a lifetime 🕋
Every grown-up Muslim who is able — healthy and with enough money — must go to Hajj in Makkah once in their life.
Ibrahim's house
Prophet Ibrahim and his son Isma'il built the Ka'bah to worship Allah alone.
Everyone the same
Men wear the same two simple white sheets, and women wear simple modest clothes — rich and poor look alike. Allah looks at our hearts.
Like a newborn
Whoever does Hajj for Allah, without bad words or sins, comes back clean like a newborn baby! (Bukhari 1521)
Live it now: make du'a to go to Hajj, start a little Hajj savings jar 🫙, and fast the Day of 'Arafah.

Iman
Six pillars of belief — the roots that hold up everything you do.
Iman: heart, tongue and actions
Belief in the heart
Certainty, love, fear and hope inside you.
Words on the tongue
The Shahadah, dhikr, Qur'an, good words.
Actions of the body
Salah, kindness, removing harm from the road.
Iman goes up and down — try it!
Ahl al-Sunnah: Iman is belief of the heart, statement of the tongue and action of the limbs; it increases with obedience and decreases with disobedience. This is a key difference from groups who say actions are not part of Iman.
Six things we believe
Tap a card to jump. Point out that the hadith of Jibril lists these six exactly.
Believing in Allah
You cannot truly love, fear or hope in Someone you do not know. So — who is your Lord?
What does “believing in Allah” include?
He exists
Everything has a maker. A phone doesn't make itself — and the universe is far more amazing!
Known by the fitrah (natural instinct), by reason, by the senses and by revelation.
Live it: look at the sky, a leaf, your own body — and say Subhan Allah.
He alone is the Lord (Rububiyyah)
Only Allah creates, owns, provides and controls everything.
Live it: when worried about your future, remember who controls it.
He alone is worshipped (Uluhiyyah)
This is lā ilāha illa-llāh — the message of every prophet.
Live it: every du'a, every prayer, every sacrifice — for Him only.
His Names & Attributes (al-Asma' was-Sifat)
We believe in every Name and Attribute that Allah and His Messenger ﷺ told us — as they came.
Live it: know His Names, and let each one change your heart and actions. (Coming up!)
This four-part breakdown follows Ibn 'Uthaymeen in Sharh Thalathat al-Usul and Sharh al-Arba'in. Parts 2–4 are the three categories of tawhid.
How do we believe in Allah's Attributes?
Allah tells us about Himself in the Qur'an: He hears, He sees, He loves, He is above His Throne. We believe it exactly as He said. We don't imagine how — because nothing is like Allah.
The way of the Companions and those who followed them (Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah): we affirm every Name and Attribute Allah affirmed for Himself or His Messenger affirmed for Him, in a way that befits His majesty — with no:
Distortion
taḥrīf — changing the meaning (e.g. saying “hand” only means “power”).
Denial
ta'ṭīl — rejecting what Allah said about Himself.
Asking “how”
takyīf — describing the manner; only Allah knows it.
Likening
tamthīl — comparing Him to His creation.
Imam Malik was asked how Allah rose over the Throne. He said: “The rising (istiwa') is known, its manner is unknown, believing in it is obligatory, and asking about it (its how) is an innovation.” (Reported by al-Bayhaqi and others; Ibn Taymiyyah noted that Ahl al-Sunnah all accepted it — Majmu' al-Fatawa 13/309.) This rule applies to every Attribute.
Affirm the Attributes clearly and calmly, without attacking individuals. The rule: the meaning is known in Arabic; the "how" is known only to Allah. "Fis-sama'" means above, over the creation — not that the sky contains Him.
Know Him → love Him → obey Him
Love leads; fear and hope are the two wings.
Ibn al-Qayyim compared the heart to a bird flying to Allah: love is its head, fear and hope are its two wings. If one wing breaks, the bird falls!
Ibn al-Qayyim (in Madarij al-Salikin) compared the heart on its journey to Allah to a bird: love is its head, fear and hope its two wings. Only fear → despair. Only hope → careless sinning. Both, led by love → a heart that flies.
And the more you know Allah's Names, the stronger all three become:
- Ar-Raḥmān, Al-Ghafūr → hope
- Al-'Azīz, Al-Qahhār, Al-Jabbār → fear and awe
- Al-Wadūd, Al-Karīm, Al-Laṭīf → love
1. Memorize
Learn the Names by heart.
2. Understand
Know what each one means.
3. Live by them
Let them change your heart and actions.
4. Call on Him
Make du'a with them (7:180)وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ فَٱدۡعُوهُ بِهَاۖ وَذَرُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ يُلۡحِدُونَ فِيٓ أَسۡمَـٰٓئِهِۦۚ سَيُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ ﴿١٨٠﴾And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them. And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names. They will be recompensed for what they have been doing. — Surat Al-A'raf 7:180.
Ibn al-Qayyim (Bada'i' al-Fawa'id) lists three levels of "ihsa'": memorizing the Names, understanding their meanings, and calling on Allah by them (du'a of asking and du'a of praise and worship). Living by them is the fruit of understanding them.
Which 99 names?
The famous list
The list of 99 names often printed on posters comes from a narration in al-Tirmidhi (3507). The hadith that “Allah has 99 names” is authentic — but the list itself is considered by many hadith scholars to be an addition by a narrator, not the Prophet's words ﷺ.
Our list
We use the list gathered by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-'Uthaymeen in al-Qawa'id al-Muthla: 81 names from the Qur'an and 18 from the authentic Sunnah, each with its proof.
Allah has more than 99 names! The Prophet ﷺ made du'a: “…by every name that is Yours, with which You named Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept with Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen.” (Musnad Ahmad 3712 — Sahih, al-Albani). “Whoever does ihsa' of 99” is a special reward — not a limit.
Many students have memorized the famous list in nasheed form. Reassure them: most of those names are proven and correct; the issue is that the specific enumeration is not authentically from the Prophet ﷺ.
Iman
Six things we believe in our hearts — the roots of our tree 🌱
Iman goes up ⬆️ and down ⬇️
Iman is in your heart, on your tongue, and in your actions. Good deeds make it go up. Sins make it go down. Try it!
Six things we believe
Chant idea (without music): count the six on your fingers together.
Who is Allah?
He made everything
A phone doesn't make itself. A house doesn't build itself. The sky, the sea and you were made by Allah!
He is in charge of everything
He gives rain, food, and life. Nothing happens without Him.
Only He deserves worship
So we pray to Him, ask Him, and love Him the most.
He has beautiful Names
Like Ar-Rahman (the Most Merciful) and Al-'Alim (the All-Knowing). Let's learn them!
Nothing is like Allah
Allah tells us about Himself in the Qur'an: He hears, He sees, He loves, He is above the heavens, over His Throne. We believe it exactly as He said it.
✅ We believe
Everything Allah and His Messenger ﷺ told us about Allah.
🚫 We don't imagine
We don't try to picture how. Nothing at all is like Allah!
Creed of Ahl al-Sunnah, kept simple: affirm what Allah said, without changing the meaning and without imagining a "how". "Fis-sama'" means above, over the creation.
A heart that flies to Allah ✨
Love leads; fear and hope are the two wings.
The scholar Ibn al-Qayyim said the heart is like a bird flying to Allah:
- ❤️ Love is its head
- ⚠️ Fear (of disobeying Allah) is one wing
- 🌈 Hope (for Allah's mercy) is the other wing
If one wing breaks, the bird falls! The more you learn Allah's Names, the stronger your bird flies.
Next: explore the 99 Names. Tap a Name to learn what it means and how to live it!
Explore the Beautiful Names
Tap any name to open its meaning, how to live by it, and its proof. Use "Back to all names" to return. Suggestion: teach 3–5 names per session and give each student a name to "live" for a week.
Which Name do you call on?
The Prophet ﷺ would call on Allah with the Name that fits the need. Choose the best Name for each situation.
Believing in the angels
How many? In the seventh heaven is al-Bayt al-Ma'mur: seventy thousand angels pray in it every day and never return to it again (Bukhari 3207, Muslim 162). Only Allah can count them.
Angels with special jobs — tap each
Jibril
The trusted spirit
Brings revelation to the prophets — the visitor in our hadith!
Mika'il
Rain & plants
In charge of rain and vegetation, by Allah's command.
Israfil
The Trumpet
Will blow the Trumpet to start the Day of Resurrection.
Angel of Death
Takes the souls at their appointed time. (32:11)۞قُلۡ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ ٱلَّذِي وُكِّلَ بِكُمۡ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُونَ ﴿١١﴾Say, "The angel of death will take you who has been entrusted with you. Then to your Lord you will be returned. — Surat As-Sajdah 32:11
The recorders
Write every word and deed — good and bad. (50:18, 82:10–12)مَّا يَلۡفِظُ مِن قَوۡلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيۡهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٞ ﴿١٨﴾Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record]. — Surat Qaf 50:18وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَحَٰفِظِينَ ﴿١٠﴾ كِرَامٗا كَٰتِبِينَ ﴿١١﴾ يَعۡلَمُونَ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ ﴿١٢﴾And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers. Noble and recording. They know whatever you do. — Surat Al-Infitar 82:10–12
Guardians
Protect people by Allah's command. (13:11)لَهُۥ مُعَقِّبَٰتٞ مِّنۢ بَيۡنِ يَدَيۡهِ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِۦ يَحۡفَظُونَهُۥ مِنۡ أَمۡرِ ٱللَّهِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوۡمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُواْ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمۡۗ وَإِذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِقَوۡمٖ سُوٓءٗا فَلَا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥۚ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَالٍ ﴿١١﴾For each one are successive [angels] before and behind him who protect him by the decree of Allah. Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron. — Surat Ar-Ra'd 13:11
Munkar & Nakir
The grave
Question the dead in the grave: Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is your Prophet? (Abu Dawud 4753 — sahih; their names: Tirmidhi 1071 — hasan)
Malik
The keeper of Hellfire. (43:77)وَنَادَوۡاْ يَٰمَٰلِكُ لِيَقۡضِ عَلَيۡنَا رَبُّكَۖ قَالَ إِنَّكُم مَّـٰكِثُونَ ﴿٧٧﴾And they will call, "O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain. — Surat Az-Zukhruf 43:77
Avoid popular but unauthentic names/stories (e.g. naming the Angel of Death "'Izra'il" is not established in authentic texts — the Qur'an calls him "Malak al-Mawt").
The angels are writing… right now
Watch your words
Every word — spoken, texted, or typed in a comment — is being written.
Feel shy
The Prophet ﷺ said about 'Uthman: “Should I not feel shy of a man whom the angels feel shy of?” (Muslim 2401). Be someone angels are shy of!
Earn their du'a
Allah, His angels, even the ant in its hole and the fish, send blessings on the one who teaches people good (Tirmidhi 2685 — sahih).
What does “believing in the angels” include?
They exist
We can't see them, but they are real — Allah told us, and believing in the unseen is part of Iman. They are honored servants who never disobey Him (21:26–27)وَقَالُواْ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَلَدٗاۗ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥۚ بَلۡ عِبَادٞ مُّكۡرَمُونَ ﴿٢٦﴾ لَا يَسۡبِقُونَهُۥ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَهُم بِأَمۡرِهِۦ يَعۡمَلُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants. They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command. — Surat Al-Anbya 21:26–27.
Their names
We believe in the angels that Allah and His Messenger ﷺ named — Jibril, Mika'il, Malik… — by name, and in all the others in general. Only Allah knows how many there are.
Their description
They have wings — two, three, four and more (35:1)ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَاعِلِ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ رُسُلًا أُوْلِيٓ أَجۡنِحَةٖ مَّثۡنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَۚ يَزِيدُ فِي ٱلۡخَلۡقِ مَا يَشَآءُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ ﴿١﴾[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, [who] made the angels messengers having wings, two or three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent. — Surat Fatir 35:1. The Prophet ﷺ saw Jibril with 600 wings (reported by Ibn Mas'ud — Bukhari 3232). By Allah's permission they can take human form — just like Jibril in our hadith!
Their actions
They worship Allah night and day without getting tired, and do the jobs He gave them — bringing revelation, rain, recording, protecting, taking souls.
🚫 What goes against it: saying angels are “just a symbol” or “good energy”; praying to angels or asking them for help instead of Allah; and trends like “angel numbers,” which claim angels send you secret codes through repeating numbers on the clock. Knowledge of the unseen comes only from the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah.
This four-part breakdown is from Ibn 'Uthaymeen, Sharh Thalathat al-Usul (the pillar of belief in the angels). Ask: “Which of the four do we forget most?” — usually #4: that right now they are worshipping and working around us. The 600 wings is Ibn Mas'ud's report of what the Prophet ﷺ saw; do not add unauthentic descriptions. “Angel numbers” is popular on social media — explain calmly that it is a claim about the unseen with no proof.
The angels around you
The angels are not “far away somewhere.” Allah made them part of a believer's everyday life. The angels who carry the Throne ask Allah to forgive you:
What keeps the angels away — tap each
A bad smell in the masjid
“Whoever eats onion, garlic or leek should not come near our masjid, for the angels are bothered by what bothers the children of Adam.” Muslim 564 · Sahih
Live it: come to the masjid clean and fresh. What bothers the people next to you in the row bothers the angels too.
A house the angels don't enter
لَا تَدْخُلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلَا صُورَةُ تَمَاثِيلَ
“The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or images [of living beings].” Bukhari 3225 · Sahih
Scholars explain this means the angels of mercy and blessing — not the recorders, who never leave you. Scholars discuss the details (for example photos, or dogs kept for guarding or farming), so ask a trusted scholar. The goal: a home the angels love — full of Qur'an, dhikr and salah.
Present the last two cards gently: some students have pets or many pictures at home. Never shame a student or their family — focus on what brings the angels: dhikr, Qur'an, salah, du'a for others. Discussion: “Who can you make du'a for tonight, secretly, by name?”
Believing in angels — what would you do?
Let students vote before revealing. Discussion: “If you could actually see the angels writing, what would you stop doing tomorrow — and what would you start?”
Believing in Allah's books
Ṣuhuf
Scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa (87:18–19)إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ ﴿١٨﴾ صُحُفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ ﴿١٩﴾Indeed, this is in the former scriptures. The scriptures of Abraham and Moses. — Surat Al-A'la 87:18–19
Tawrah
Given to Musa
Zabur
Given to Dawud (4:163)۞إِنَّآ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ كَمَآ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ نُوحٖ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦۚ وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسۡحَٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوبَ وَٱلۡأَسۡبَاطِ وَعِيسَىٰ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهَٰرُونَ وَسُلَيۡمَٰنَۚ وَءَاتَيۡنَا دَاوُۥدَ زَبُورٗا ﴿١٦٣﴾Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And we revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the book [of Psalms]. — Surat An-Nisa 4:163
Injil
Given to 'Isa
The Qur'an — the final book
Revealed to Muhammad ﷺ, protected by Allah word for word, and it judges over all the books before it.
We believe the earlier books were truly revealed — but what people have today has been changed (2:79)فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلَّذِينَ يَكۡتُبُونَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ بِأَيۡدِيهِمۡ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ لِيَشۡتَرُواْ بِهِۦ ثَمَنٗا قَلِيلٗاۖ فَوَيۡلٞ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتۡ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَوَيۡلٞ لَّهُم مِّمَّا يَكۡسِبُونَ ﴿٧٩﴾So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. — Surat Al-Baqarah 2:79, so we follow only the Qur'an and the Sunnah. With Christian and Jewish friends we speak respectfully and wisely (29:46)۞وَلَا تُجَٰدِلُوٓاْ أَهۡلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ إِلَّا بِٱلَّتِي هِيَ أَحۡسَنُ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَقُولُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱلَّذِيٓ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡنَا وَأُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكُمۡ وَإِلَٰهُنَا وَإِلَٰهُكُمۡ وَٰحِدٞ وَنَحۡنُ لَهُۥ مُسۡلِمُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him. — Surat Al-'Ankabut 29:46.
Many students have Christian and Jewish classmates. Encourage respectful conversations: "We believe Allah sent the Tawrah and the Injil — and we believe the Qur'an is the final, preserved message."
Believing in the Qur'an means living with it
📖 Read
A little every day — even one page.
🧠 Memorize
Add one ayah at a time.
💡 Understand
Read the meaning of what you recite in salah.
✅ Act
The Qur'an is a book to do, not just to decorate a shelf.
What does “believing in the books” include?
They are truly from Allah
Every book Allah sent down was real guidance from Him.
Their names
We believe by name in the ones Allah named — the Qur'an, Tawrah, Injil, Zabur, and the Scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa — and in the others in general.
Their true news
We believe everything that is authentically reported from them — like everything the Qur'an tells us.
Acting on them
We act on the rulings that were not cancelled. Today that means the Qur'an: it came last, and its law replaced the laws of the earlier books.
📖 The Qur'an is the speech of Allah
The Qur'an is Allah's real speech — its words and its meanings. Jibril brought it down and the Prophet ﷺ delivered it, but the words are Allah's. It is sent down, not created. Allah Himself calls it “the speech of Allah” (9:6)وَإِنۡ أَحَدٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ ٱسۡتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرۡهُ حَتَّىٰ يَسۡمَعَ كَلَٰمَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ أَبۡلِغۡهُ مَأۡمَنَهُۥۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ قَوۡمٞ لَّا يَعۡلَمُونَ ﴿٦﴾And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know. — Surat At-Tawbah 9:6.
🚫 What goes against it: saying the Qur'an was written by Muhammad ﷺ; saying it is “outdated” and should be changed for modern times; following today's Bible or Torah instead of the Qur'an; making jokes or memes that mock its verses.
The four parts follow Ibn 'Uthaymeen, Sharh Thalathat al-Usul (the pillar of belief in the books). For older students: the belief that the Qur'an is Allah's uncreated speech is the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah; Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal was imprisoned and beaten during the trial (mihnah) for refusing to say the Qur'an is created — a great story of standing firm. Keep the main point simple: these are Allah's own words.
What does the Qur'an ask of me?
Recite it
Correctly, with tajwid, and regularly — not only in Ramadan.
Understand it
It was sent down so we would reflect on its verses (38:29)كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَيۡكَ مُبَٰرَكٞ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓاْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ﴿٢٩﴾[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. — Surat Sad 38:29. Start with the surahs you pray with.
Act on it
Its halal and haram, its manners, how it tells you to treat your parents and friends.
Refer to it
When you disagree or aren't sure, go back to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ (4:59)يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَمۡرِ مِنكُمۡۖ فَإِن تَنَٰزَعۡتُمۡ فِي شَيۡءٖ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيۡرٞ وَأَحۡسَنُ تَأۡوِيلًا ﴿٥٩﴾O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result. — Surat An-Nisa 4:59 — not to trends or “everyone does it.”
Teach it
Share even one ayah you learned — with a sibling, a friend, a new Muslim.
Respect it
Handle the mushaf with care, and never use its verses for jokes.
Ask each student to rate themselves 1–5 on each card (privately), then choose the weakest one to work on this week. Explain that “raises some people” includes this life too: people honored because of the Qur'an they carry and live by.
“My people have abandoned this Qur'an”
Abandoning the Qur'an isn't only throwing it away. It can happen quietly — even while the mushaf sits on a nice shelf. Tap each to see what it looks like in real life, and how to fix it.
Not listening
Hours of videos, podcasts and scrolling — zero minutes of Qur'an. Fix: play a short surah on the way to school.
Not reading
Opening the mushaf only in Ramadan. Fix: one page a day — set a reminder after Fajr or Isha.
Not understanding
Reciting al-Fatihah at least 17 times a day without knowing what it means. Fix: learn the meaning of the short surahs you pray with.
Not acting on it
Knowing the ayah about backbiting (49:12)يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱجۡتَنِبُواْ كَثِيرٗا مِّنَ ٱلظَّنِّ إِنَّ بَعۡضَ ٱلظَّنِّ إِثۡمٞۖ وَلَا تَجَسَّسُواْ وَلَا يَغۡتَب بَّعۡضُكُم بَعۡضًاۚ أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمۡ أَن يَأۡكُلَ لَحۡمَ أَخِيهِ مَيۡتٗا فَكَرِهۡتُمُوهُۚ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابٞ رَّحِيمٞ ﴿١٢﴾O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful. — Surat Al-Hujurat 49:12 — then backbiting at lunch. Fix: pick one ayah a week and live it.
Not judging by it
Deciding right and wrong by influencers and trends. Fix: ask, “What does Allah say about this?”
Not seeking healing in it
Feeling sad or anxious and turning only to the phone. Fix: turn to the Qur'an and its du'as too — it heals the heart.
وَالْقُرْآنُ حُجَّةٌ لَكَ أَوْ عَلَيْكَ — “…and the Qur'an is a proof for you or against you.” (Part of a longer hadith — Sahih Muslim 223, Sahih). You choose which one!
Scholars of tafsir explain that abandoning the Qur'an has levels: refusing to believe in it or listen to it is the worst; neglecting its recitation, understanding, acting on it or judging by it are lesser kinds — but all are dangerous. Don't make students feel hopeless; the goal is ONE small fix they will actually do.
Believing in Allah's messengers
First & last
The first messenger was Nuh (Bukhari 3340); the last is Muhammad ﷺ — no prophet after him (33:40)مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَآ أَحَدٖ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمۡ وَلَٰكِن رَّسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٗا ﴿٤٠﴾Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing. — Surat Al-Ahzab 33:40.
One message
Every messenger called to the same thing: worship Allah alone (16:36, 21:25)وَلَقَدۡ بَعَثۡنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٖ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجۡتَنِبُواْ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَۖ فَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ حَقَّتۡ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُۚ فَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٣٦﴾And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allah and avoid Taghut." And among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers. — Surat An-Nahl 16:36وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ﴿٢٥﴾And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me. — Surat Al-Anbya 21:25.
All of them
We believe in all of them — 25 are named in the Qur'an — and make no distinction in believing (2:285)ءَامَنَ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡهِ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَۚ كُلٌّ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيۡنَ أَحَدٖ مِّن رُّسُلِهِۦۚ وَقَالُواْ سَمِعۡنَا وَأَطَعۡنَاۖ غُفۡرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيۡكَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ ﴿٢٨٥﴾The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination. — Surat Al-Baqarah 2:285.
The five of strongest resolve (Ulul-'Azm)
Nuh · Ibrahim · Musa · 'Isa · Muhammad — peace and blessings be upon them all (33:7, 42:13)وَإِذۡ أَخَذۡنَا مِنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِيثَٰقَهُمۡ وَمِنكَ وَمِن نُّوحٖ وَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَى ٱبۡنِ مَرۡيَمَۖ وَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظٗا ﴿٧﴾And [mention, O Muhammad], when We took from the prophets their covenant and from you and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus, the son of Mary; and We took from them a solemn covenant. — Surat Al-Ahzab 33:7۞شَرَعَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا وَصَّىٰ بِهِۦ نُوحٗا وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ وَمَا وَصَّيۡنَا بِهِۦٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰٓۖ أَنۡ أَقِيمُواْ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُواْ فِيهِۚ كَبُرَ عَلَى ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ مَا تَدۡعُوهُمۡ إِلَيۡهِۚ ٱللَّهُ يَجۡتَبِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ مَن يُنِيبُ ﴿١٣﴾He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him]. — Surat Ash-Shuraa 42:13.
'Isa عليه السلام is a great messenger and servant of Allah, born miraculously to Maryam — not God and not the son of God. Believing in him correctly is part of our Iman.
Loving Muhammad ﷺ — for real

Real love = following his Sunnah (3:31)قُلۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱللَّهَ فَٱتَّبِعُونِي يُحۡبِبۡكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَيَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ ذُنُوبَكُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ ﴿٣١﴾Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. — Surat Ali 'Imran 3:31.
Learn
Read his Sirah. You can't love someone you don't know.
Send salawat
“Whoever sends one salah on me, Allah sends ten on him” (Muslim 408).
Defend him
With beautiful manners — be the best advertisement for his message.
What does “believing in the messengers” include?
Their message is true
Their message is truly from Allah. Rejecting one messenger means rejecting all of them: the people of Nuh rejected only Nuh, yet Allah says they “denied the messengers” (26:105)كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ ﴿١٠٥﴾The people of Noah denied the messengers. — Surat Ash-Shu'ara 26:105.
Their names
We believe by name in those Allah named, and in the rest in general — there are messengers whose stories we were not told (4:164)وَرُسُلٗا قَدۡ قَصَصۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَيۡكَ مِن قَبۡلُ وَرُسُلٗا لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡهُمۡ عَلَيۡكَۚ وَكَلَّمَ ٱللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكۡلِيمٗا ﴿١٦٤﴾And [We sent] messengers about whom We have related [their stories] to you before and messengers about whom We have not related to you. And Allah spoke to Moses with [direct] speech. — Surat An-Nisa 4:164.
Their true stories
We believe everything authentically reported about them — Ibrahim in the fire, Musa and the sea, the miracles of 'Isa.
Following the last one
We follow the law of the messenger sent to us — Muhammad ﷺ, sent to all people until the end of time.
Human — but chosen
Human
They ate, slept, got sick, felt sad, married and had children. They don't know the unseen except what Allah tells them, and they can't benefit or harm anyone except by Allah's will. So we never pray to them.
Chosen
Allah chose them, sent revelation to them, and made them the best of people. They were truthful and trustworthy, and delivered the whole message — hiding nothing.
🚫 What goes against it: raising a prophet to the level of God or “son of God,” or making du'a to him after his death — or the opposite: mocking any prophet, or saying “I believe in God, but I don't need a messenger.”
The four parts follow Ibn 'Uthaymeen, Sharh Thalathat al-Usul (the pillar of belief in the messengers). The key balance of this verse: “a man like you” (so no worship of him) + “revelation comes to me” (so full obedience to him). Ask: “Which mistake do people around us fall into more — going too far, or not taking him seriously?”
The last brick
No new prophet
Anyone who claims to be a prophet after him ﷺ is not telling the truth — no matter how many people follow him.
No new revelation
The Qur'an and the Sunnah are complete. Nothing will be added to the religion.
One message for everyone
His message is for every person, every country, every century — including America today.
Students may meet people from groups that believe a prophet came after Muhammad ﷺ. Teach the clear proofs (the verse above and these hadith) calmly and without insulting anyone. “Khatam” means the seal — the last one; nothing comes after it.
Not too far — not too little
🚫 Too far
Calling on him for help instead of Allah; saying he knows all of the unseen; inventing new acts of worship “out of love” that he never taught. Remember: “Whoever does a deed not in line with our matter, it is rejected” (Muslim 1718 — we saw it earlier).
✅ The middle path
Obey him (4:80)مَّن يُطِعِ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدۡ أَطَاعَ ٱللَّهَۖ وَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ فَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَفِيظٗا ﴿٨٠﴾He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian. — Surat An-Nisa 4:80 · send salawat on him (33:56)إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِيِّۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا ﴿٥٦﴾Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace. — Surat Al-Ahzab 33:56 · learn his Sirah · defend him with good manners · love him more than yourself.
🚫 Too little
Ignoring his Sunnah; making fun of a Sunnah; saying “I only follow the Qur'an, not hadith”; not sending salawat when his name is mentioned.
Be gentle: students may have seen some of the “too far” practices in their own families or communities. Teach the principle (love = following, and worship is for Allah alone) without attacking anyone. Love of the Prophet ﷺ should leave this slide stronger, not weaker.

⚖️ The Scale
Deeds weighed with perfect justice (21:47)وَنَضَعُ ٱلۡمَوَٰزِينَ ٱلۡقِسۡطَ لِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظۡلَمُ نَفۡسٞ شَيۡـٔٗاۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِثۡقَالَ حَبَّةٖ مِّنۡ خَرۡدَلٍ أَتَيۡنَا بِهَاۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَٰسِبِينَ ﴿٤٧﴾And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant. — Surat Al-Anbya 21:47.
🌉 The Bridge (al-Sirat)
Crossed at the speed of your deeds.
🌿 Paradise — or the Fire
The final home. May Allah make us of the people of Paradise.
What have you prepared?
Remember it
أَكْثِرُوا ذِكْرَ هَاذِمِ اللَّذَّاتِ
“Remember often the destroyer of pleasures (death).” Tirmidhi 2307 · Hasan Sahih (al-Albani)
Be a traveler
كُنْ فِي الدُّنْيَا كَأَنَّكَ غَرِيبٌ أَوْ عَابِرُ سَبِيلٍ
“Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler.” Bukhari 6416
Justice is coming
Every hidden wrong will be judged. That gives comfort to the oppressed and a warning to every bully.
Balance fear and hope — especially with younger students. Emphasize Paradise and love of Allah.
What does “believing in the Last Day” include?
1. Resurrection
Allah will bring every person back to life. The One who created you the first time can easily do it again (36:78–79)وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلٗا وَنَسِيَ خَلۡقَهُۥۖ قَالَ مَن يُحۡيِ ٱلۡعِظَٰمَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٞ ﴿٧٨﴾ قُلۡ يُحۡيِيهَا ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنشَأَهَآ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٖۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلۡقٍ عَلِيمٌ ﴿٧٩﴾And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated. Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing. — Surat Ya-Sin 36:78–79.
2. Reckoning and reward
Every deed will be shown and judged with perfect justice — and rewarded or paid back, or forgiven by Allah's mercy.
3. Paradise and the Fire
Both are real, and they are the final, forever home.
Also part of it: everything that happens after death — the questioning in the grave, and its comfort or its punishment.
Signs before the Hour
Minor signs
Many of them — and some have already happened, like the two signs in the hadith of Jibril. They are reminders to get ready, not puzzles to solve.
Major signs
إِنَّهَا لَنْ تَقُومَ حَتَّى تَرَوْنَ قَبْلَهَا عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ
“It will not come until you see ten signs before it.” Then he ﷺ mentioned: the smoke, the Dajjal, the Beast, the sun rising from the west, the descent of 'Isa son of Maryam, Ya'juj and Ma'juj, three great sinkings of the earth (in the east, the west and Arabia), and a fire from Yemen driving people to their gathering place. Muslim 2901 · Sahih
🚫 What goes against it: denying the resurrection (64:7)زَعَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَن لَّن يُبۡعَثُواْۚ قُلۡ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّي لَتُبۡعَثُنَّ ثُمَّ لَتُنَبَّؤُنَّ بِمَا عَمِلۡتُمۡۚ وَذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٞ ﴿٧﴾Those who disbelieve have claimed that they will never be resurrected. Say, "Yes, by my Lord, you will surely be resurrected; then you will surely be informed of what you did. And that, for Allah, is easy. — Surat At-Taghabun 64:7; “you only live once — nothing comes after”; believing in reincarnation; or getting hooked on viral “end-times” videos and date predictions — only Allah knows when it comes.
The three parts follow Ibn 'Uthaymeen, Sharh Thalathat al-Usul (the pillar of belief in the Last Day); what happens after death (the grave) is included with it. Keep the signs brief and calm — no frightening extra details from unauthentic sources. Bring every question back to: “What have you prepared?”
What makes your Scale heavy?
Posts and comments
Every post, comment and DM is in your record (45:29)هَٰذَا كِتَٰبُنَا يَنطِقُ عَلَيۡكُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسۡتَنسِخُ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾This, Our record, speaks about you in truth. Indeed, We were having transcribed whatever you used to do. — Surat Al-Jathiyah 45:29. Before you post, ask: “Would I be happy to see this on that Day?”
Justice
Don't cheat, take what isn't yours, or wrong anyone — in a game, a group project or a sale. People's rights get paid back on that Day.
Patience
Hard days, unfair treatment, a bully — nothing is lost with Allah. Your patience is recorded and rewarded.
Ask: “Why would good character be heavier than many extra prayers?” Make clear that good character does not replace the obligations — the “bankrupt” man prayed and fasted, but his wrongs against people ate up his good deeds. Rights between people are only cleared by returning them or being forgiven by the person.
Who gets the Prophet's ﷺ intercession?
Intercession belongs to Allah
No one intercedes except with His permission (2:255)ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡحَيُّ ٱلۡقَيُّومُۚ لَا تَأۡخُذُهُۥ سِنَةٞ وَلَا نَوۡمٞۚ لَّهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِي يَشۡفَعُ عِندَهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِهِۦۚ يَعۡلَمُ مَا بَيۡنَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيۡءٖ مِّنۡ عِلۡمِهِۦٓ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَۚ وَسِعَ كُرۡسِيُّهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۖ وَلَا يَـُٔودُهُۥ حِفۡظُهُمَاۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَلِيُّ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ ﴿٢٥٥﴾Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. — Surat Al-Baqarah 2:255, and only for the one He is pleased with (21:28)يَعۡلَمُ مَا بَيۡنَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَلَا يَشۡفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ٱرۡتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنۡ خَشۡيَتِهِۦ مُشۡفِقُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive. — Surat Al-Anbya 21:28. So we ask Allah to grant us the intercession of His Prophet ﷺ.
The key is tawhid
“Sincerely from the heart” — a pure lā ilāha illa-llāh, free from shirk. And real sincerity shows in actions.
Two wings: fear and hope
Ahl al-Sunnah believe the Prophet ﷺ will intercede on the Day of Resurrection, including for sinners from the people of tawhid — by Allah's permission and for those He is pleased with. Balance: use hope for a student crushed by guilt, and fear for a student who is careless. Link back to the “bird” of love, fear and hope from the Allah section.
Al-Qadar: everything is by Allah's decree
Knowledge
Allah knew everything before it happened — the past, present and future.
Writing
He wrote it all in the Preserved Tablet, 50,000 years before creating the heavens and earth.
Will
Nothing happens except by His will (81:29)وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿٢٩﴾And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. — Surat At-Takwir 81:29.
Creation
He created everything — including us and our actions (37:96)وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ﴿٩٦﴾While Allah created you and that which you do. — Surat As-Saffat 37:96.
These four matters of belief in al-Qadar are as listed by Ibn 'Uthaymeen in Sharh Usul al-Iman.
If it's written, why should I try?
The Companions asked this exact question! The Prophet ﷺ answered:
✔ You have a real choice
Allah gave you a will and a mind, and you are responsible for your choices.
✖ Qadar is not an excuse for sin
Nobody knows what is written until it happens. A student who doesn't study and says “it's my qadar to fail” is fooling himself. Qadar is for comfort after something happens — not an excuse before.
Qadar gives your heart peace
Iman quiz
Ihsan
“That you worship Allah as if you see Him; and if you do not see Him, then indeed He sees you.”
What does “Ihsan” mean?
In the Arabic language
Iḥsān comes from aḥsana: to make something ḥasan — good and beautiful. It has two meanings:
- Doing a thing excellently — perfecting it.
- Doing good to others — bringing them benefit.
Allah describes Himself as the One “who perfected (aḥsana) everything He created” (32:7)ٱلَّذِيٓ أَحۡسَنَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقَهُۥۖ وَبَدَأَ خَلۡقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنِ مِن طِينٖ ﴿٧﴾Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay. — Surat As-Sajdah 32:7.
In the religion
The Prophet ﷺ defined it for Jibril: “That you worship Allah as if you see Him; and if you do not see Him, then indeed He sees you.”
It is the highest level of the religion. Every muḥsin is also a mu'min and a Muslim — but not every Muslim has reached Ihsan yet.
Ihsan has two sides
Ihsan in worshipping Allah
Your worship is for Allah alone, done the way the Prophet ﷺ taught, with a present heart, as well as you can.
Live it: before any act of worship, pause for three seconds: “Allah sees me. This is for Him.”
Ihsan to Allah's creation
Giving people good — with your words, your time, your help and your money — and holding back any harm from them.
Live it: each day, do one thing for someone that is more than what you owe them.
Both sides in one verse: Allah commands justice — giving what you owe — and ihsan — giving more than you owe, in the best way. Al-Sa'di explains in his Tafsir (on Surat al-Nahl, verse 128) that the muḥsinūn are those who worship Allah as if they see Him, and who do good to His creation by benefiting them.
Draw three circles on the board: Islam (largest), Iman inside it, Ihsan in the center. Ask: “Where am I trying to get to?” Stress that this verse is a command — Ihsan is not only for “special” people; every Muslim is asked to strive for it. Discussion: “What is the difference between doing your homework and doing your homework with ihsan?”
Two steps up the ladder of Ihsan
“As if you see Him”
Pray as if you are standing right in front of Allah, looking at His greatness. Your heart is full of love and wanting to be close to Him.
Worship of longing — the heart is so full of knowledge of Allah, His Names and His greatness that it worships Him with love, longing and awe, as though seeing Him.
“…then He sees you”
Even if you can't feel that, remember: Allah is watching you right now. So you do your best.
Worship of awareness and fear — if you cannot reach that, then at least never forget that He sees you, hears you and knows your heart. This awareness brings fear, shyness and excellence.
Look at the second verse above: Allah sees you when you stand and your movement among those who prostrate — Ihsan was described with salah itself.
The first level is higher: worship driven by love and longing for Allah. The second is worship driven by awareness that He sees you, and fear of Him. We avoid the term "mushahadah" here, because some groups use it with wrong meanings. Reminder: no one sees Allah in this world; "as if" describes the strength of the heart's certainty.
From “He sees you” to “as if you see Him”
Nobody jumps to the top step. You climb — one step at a time. Tap “Next” to climb.
📖 1. Know who is watching
Learn the Names that build Ihsan: al-Raqīb (the Ever-Watchful), al-Baṣīr (the All-Seeing), al-Samī' (the All-Hearing), al-Shahīd (the Witness). “Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer” (4:1)يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفۡسٖ وَٰحِدَةٖ وَخَلَقَ مِنۡهَا زَوۡجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنۡهُمَا رِجَالٗا كَثِيرٗا وَنِسَآءٗۚ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي تَسَآءَلُونَ بِهِۦ وَٱلۡأَرۡحَامَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ رَقِيبٗا ﴿١﴾O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer. — Surat An-Nisa 4:1. Live it: pick one Name each week and remind yourself of it before salah.
🌿 2. Count His gifts
Love grows when you notice what you have been given — your eyes, your family, your food, Islam itself (14:34)وَءَاتَىٰكُم مِّن كُلِّ مَا سَأَلۡتُمُوهُۚ وَإِن تَعُدُّواْ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحۡصُوهَآۗ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَظَلُومٞ كَفَّارٞ ﴿٣٤﴾And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful. — Surat Ibrahim 14:34. Live it: before sleeping, name three blessings from today and say “al-ḥamdu lillāh.”
💧 3. Prepare like a guest of the King
Careful wudu, come early, phone on silent and out of reach. A heart that arrives rushed stays rushed. (More on the next slide.)
📖 4. Understand what you say
Allah sent down the Qur'an so that we reflect on it (38:29)كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَيۡكَ مُبَٰرَكٞ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓاْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ﴿٢٩﴾[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. — Surat Sad 38:29. Live it: each month, learn the meaning of one short surah you recite in salah.
🤲 5. Ask Allah for it
Excellence in worship is a gift from Allah — so ask Him for it at every prayer, with the du'a the Prophet ﷺ taught Mu'adh (below).
⏰ 6. Pray a “farewell prayer”
Pray as if this is the last salah of your life (below). Nobody rushes a goodbye.
🔑 7. Keep a secret with Allah
A deed nobody knows about — two rak'ahs at night, a du'a for a friend. Secret deeds build a private connection between your heart and your Lord.
⭐ 8. The top step
Worship full of love and longing — as if you see Him. No one sees Allah in this world; this is a heart so certain and so full of His greatness that it worships as though it sees.
Walk the steps slowly with “Next.” Reassure students: being on the first step (“He sees you”) is already Ihsan — Iman goes up and down, so keep climbing and don't despair. Notice that the du'a asks for ḥusn 'ibādah — literally “ihsan in worship.” Scholars differ about “at the end of every prayer”: Ibn 'Uthaymeen held that it is better said at the end of the prayer, before the salam, because it is a du'a; many other scholars said right after the salam. Discussion: “Which step is hardest for you, and what is one thing you can do this week to climb it?”
Same salah — very different reward
Before
- Wudu slowly and completely.
- If there is time: eat first if food is served, and use the bathroom first — “No prayer when food is served, nor while holding back the call of nature” (Muslim 560).
- Phone on silent, out of reach.
During
- Don't look around: “It is something Shaytan snatches from a servant's prayer” (Bukhari 751).
- When your mind wanders, gently bring it back — again and again.
- Change the surahs you recite so it doesn't become “autopilot.”
After
- Don't jump up — say the adhkar after salah calmly.
- Ask yourself: “How much of my heart was there?”
- Plan one fix for the next prayer.
Never stop praying because your mind wanders! Keep every pillar of the prayer, and keep pulling your heart back. That struggle itself is Ihsan — and your reward grows as your presence grows.
This builds on the earlier salah slides (Al-Fatihah as a conversation, the meaning of every move, not rushing) — here the focus is preparing before and reviewing after. Notice the word yuḥsinu (“does it with excellence”) in Muslim 228 and 234 — Ihsan is in the hadith itself. Activity: a one-week “presence tracker” — after each prayer, students rate their presence of heart 1–10 privately and write one fix. Keep it private; no one shares scores.
Ihsan is not only in salah
With Allah
Wudu done carefully, salah with stillness, Qur'an with reflection, du'a with a present heart.
With parents
“…and to parents, ihsan” (17:23)۞وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ وَبِٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ إِحۡسَٰنًاۚ إِمَّا يَبۡلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ ٱلۡكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَوۡ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَآ أُفّٖ وَلَا تَنۡهَرۡهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوۡلٗا كَرِيمٗا ﴿٢٣﴾And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. — Surat Al-Isra 17:23. Not just obeying — obeying beautifully, with a smile.
At school
Neat homework, honest effort, respect for teachers — Muslims should be the best students.
With people
Good manners even with people who are rude to you.
With animals
Feed them, never hurt them. A man was forgiven for giving water to a thirsty dog (Bukhari 2363).
With the earth
Don't waste water or food; leave places cleaner than you found them.
Fair is good. Ihsan is better.
Justice is giving people what you owe them. Ihsan is giving more than you owe — in the most beautiful way — hoping for Allah's reward, not theirs.
Parents
Fair: do what they ask.
Ihsan: do it before they ask, lower your voice, thank them, make du'a for them.
Neighbors
Fair: don't bother them.
Ihsan: greet them, shovel their walkway, share food on Eid.
Teachers
Fair: don't be rude.
Ihsan: give full attention, say “thank you,” help tidy the classroom.
Classmates
Fair: do your part of the project.
Ihsan: do it well, and help the one who is struggling — without embarrassing him.
Someone who wronged you
Fair: you may take your right.
Ihsan: forgive, and answer bad with something better (41:34)وَلَا تَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡحَسَنَةُ وَلَا ٱلسَّيِّئَةُۚ ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِي هِيَ أَحۡسَنُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِي بَيۡنَكَ وَبَيۡنَهُۥ عَدَٰوَةٞ كَأَنَّهُۥ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٞ ﴿٣٤﴾And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend. — Surat Fussilat 41:34. Holding back anger and pardoning are ihsan — “and Allah loves the doers of good” (3:134)ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِي ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلۡكَٰظِمِينَ ٱلۡغَيۡظَ وَٱلۡعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ ﴿١٣٤﴾Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good. — Surat Ali 'Imran 3:134.
Non-Muslims
Fair: be honest and just.
Ihsan: be kind and helpful to those who live in peace with us (60:8)لَّا يَنۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ لَمۡ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمۡ فِي ٱلدِّينِ وَلَمۡ يُخۡرِجُوكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِكُمۡ أَن تَبَرُّوهُمۡ وَتُقۡسِطُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُقۡسِطِينَ ﴿٨﴾Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. — Surat Al-Mumtahanah 60:8. Your character is da'wah.
The previous slide listed where Ihsan goes; this one shows the difference between the minimum (justice) and excellence (ihsan). Two sensitivities: (1) forgiving does not mean accepting bullying — students should still tell an adult; Ihsan never means letting yourself be harmed. (2) Kindness to non-Muslims is honesty, justice and good manners; it does not mean agreeing with beliefs that contradict tawhid. Discussion: “Who in your life deserves a little extra ihsan this week?”
Who are you when nobody is watching?
The three men in the cave
Three men were trapped when a rock sealed their cave. Each called on Allah by a deed he had done sincerely, seeking only Allah's Face: one served his parents with excellence, one left a sin when he had full power to do it — only out of fear of Allah, and one guarded a worker's wages and grew them for years. With each du'a the rock moved, until they walked out. (Sahih al-Bukhari 2272, Muslim 2743)
Lesson: sincere deeds done only for Allah are your “savings account” with Allah for the day you are trapped.
Ihsan on your phone and online
Your phone is where you are most alone — so it is exactly where Ihsan is tested.
What you watch
“The hearing, the sight and the heart — all of those will be questioned” (17:36)وَلَا تَقۡفُ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌۚ إِنَّ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡبَصَرَ وَٱلۡفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ كَانَ عَنۡهُ مَسۡـُٔولٗا ﴿٣٦﴾And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned. — Surat Al-Isra 17:36.
Live it: if you would close it when your parent walks in, close it now — Allah already sees it. Keep the phone out of the bedroom at night.
What you type
Every word is recorded (50:18)مَّا يَلۡفِظُ مِن قَوۡلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيۡهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٞ ﴿١٨﴾Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record]. — Surat Qaf 50:18 — comments, DMs and group chats included.
Live it: before you post, ask: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it needed? No mocking, no backbiting in the group chat.
How you play
“Whoever cheats us is not of us” (Muslim 101).
Live it: no hacks or glitches that take from other players, no cursing in voice chat, and pause the game for salah.
What you share
Don't screenshot and spread other people's private chats or photos. And don't post your own sins: “All of my Ummah will be pardoned except those who make their sins public” — the one Allah covered at night who tells people in the morning (Bukhari 6069).
Live it: keep others' secrets, and keep Allah's cover over yourself.
Slipped? Don't stay down. مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يُذْنِبُ ذَنْبًا فَيُحْسِنُ الطُّهُورَ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ، إِلَّا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ “No servant commits a sin, then purifies himself well, stands and prays two rak'ahs, then asks Allah's forgiveness, except that Allah forgives him.” Sunan Abi Dawud 1521 · Sahih (al-Albani)
Handle with care and hope. The hadith of Thawban warns about people who make a habit of violating Allah's limits in private while showing good in public — it is not about a person who slips, regrets and repents. Pair the warning with the hope of tawbah (Abu Dawud 1521). Encourage families to agree on phone rules (filters, no phones in bedrooms at night). Discussion: “Which of the four cards is hardest for teens today — and why?”
Ihsan is the cure for riya'
Riya'
“Who is watching me? What will they think?”
Your eyes are on people.
Ihsan
“Allah is watching me. What does He think?”
Your eyes are on Allah.
When you really feel that Allah sees you, people's eyes become small. You don't need their praise, and you don't fear their blame.
This slide ties the whole lesson together: Tawhid (Shahadah) → protected from shirk; Ihsan → protected from riya'.
Excellence — not anxiety, not showing off
Ihsan
“I give my best for Allah, then I trust Him.”
Eyes on Allah. Calm and steady — keeps going, even with small deeds.
Perfectionism
“If it isn't perfect, I failed.”
Eyes on yourself. Leads to stress, repeating wudu again and again — or giving up completely.
Showing off
“Is this impressive enough?”
Eyes on people. The deed is made for an audience.
⚖️ Two conditions for the “best deed”
Allah created death and life “to test you as to which of you is best in deed” (67:2)ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ أَيُّكُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗاۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ﴿٢﴾[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving. — Surat Al-Mulk 67:2. Al-Fuḍayl ibn 'Iyāḍ explained “best in deed” as the deed that is most sincere and most correct: sincere means it is for Allah; correct means it follows the Sunnah. So Ihsan never means inventing extra acts of worship — the most excellent way is the Prophet's way ﷺ.
Live it: “Fear Allah as much as you are able” (64:16)فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ وَٱسۡمَعُواْ وَأَطِيعُواْ وَأَنفِقُواْ خَيۡرٗا لِّأَنفُسِكُمۡۗ وَمَن يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفۡسِهِۦ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ ﴿١٦﴾So fear Allah as much as you are able and listen and obey and spend [in the way of Allah]; it is better for your selves. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful. — Surat At-Taghabun 64:16. Choose a small deed you can keep all year — two rak'ahs of Duha, one page of Qur'an — instead of a huge plan you will drop next week. Do your best, then leave the result to Allah.
Some students — often the most serious ones — suffer from anxiety or waswasah (repeating wudu or salah because “it wasn't perfect”). Teach that the Prophet ﷺ told the one who imagined he broke his wudu during prayer not to leave until he hears a sound or smells something (Bukhari 137, Muslim 361) — certainty is not removed by doubt. If a student seems to struggle strongly, speak to him privately and involve the parents or counselor. The statement of al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyad is well known in the books on sincerity. Discussion: “What is one small deed you could keep every day until the end of the year?”
The fruits of Ihsan
Allah loves them
Again and again the Qur'an says: “Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good” — as in Surat al-Baqarah, verse 195, which you saw earlier. Is there any greater honor?
Allah is with them
A special “with-ness”: His help, support and guidance (see the box below).
Good comes back
“Is the reward for good anything but good?” (55:60)هَلۡ جَزَآءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنُ ﴿٦٠﴾Is the reward for good [anything] but good. — Surat Ar-Rahman 55:60. Allah returns your ihsan with His ihsan.
“And more”
Paradise — and more: looking at the Face of Allah (hadith below).
What does “Allah is with them” mean? Allah is above His Throne, above all His creation — and He is also “with you wherever you are” (57:4)هُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ يَعۡلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهَا وَمَا يَنزِلُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا يَعۡرُجُ فِيهَاۖ وَهُوَ مَعَكُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِيرٞ ﴿٤﴾It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein; and He is with you wherever you are. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing. — Surat Al-Hadid 57:4. Ahl al-Sunnah explain His being with in two ways: general — with all creation by His knowledge, hearing, seeing and control, so nothing is hidden from Him; and special — with the muḥsinūn, the people of taqwa and His messengers, by His help, support and protection, as He told Musa and Harun: “I am with you both; I hear and I see” (20:46)قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآۖ إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَآ أَسۡمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ ﴿٤٦﴾[Allah] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see. — Surat Taha 20:46. Al-Sa'di explains the verse of Surat al-Nahl above: Allah is with them “with His help, His granting of success, and His keeping them on the right path.” It never means that Allah is mixed with His creation or inside places.
Point out the beautiful match: the one who worshipped Allah as if he sees Him is rewarded with truly seeing Him in Paradise. Ahl al-Sunnah believe the believers will see their Lord in the Hereafter — never in this world. Al-Sa'di's words on the verse (Surat al-Nahl, verse 128): بعونه وتوفيقه وتسديده. Ask: “If Allah is with you with His help, what is there to be afraid of?”
Ihsan in real life
My Ihsan check
My salah
- Did I prepare before it?
- Was my heart there, at least for part of it?
- Did I rush any position?
My screen
- Is there anything I watch or type that I hide from my parents?
- Allah already sees it — what will I change?
My people
- Did I do something extra for my parents today?
- Was I kind to someone who can't pay me back?
My work
- Is my homework my real best?
- Did I do it honestly — as if Allah were checking? (He is.)
Let students vote with hands before tapping each choice, and ask them to explain their reasoning. For the “Ihsan check,” students answer silently in their notebooks — not out loud. End by asking each student to pick one card to work on this week.
“Tell me about the Hour”
Even Jibril — the greatest angel — and Muhammad ﷺ — the greatest messenger — did not know when the Hour will come: “The one asked knows no more than the one asking.” Only Allah knows (31:34)إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡغَيۡثَ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡحَامِۖ وَمَا تَدۡرِي نَفۡسٞ مَّاذَا تَكۡسِبُ غَدٗاۖ وَمَا تَدۡرِي نَفۡسُۢ بِأَيِّ أَرۡضٖ تَمُوتُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرُۢ ﴿٣٤﴾Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted. — Surat Luqman 31:34.
Sign 1
“The slave-woman gives birth to her mistress.”
Scholars gave several explanations; one well-known one is that children become so disobedient that they treat their own mothers like servants.
One meaning scholars mention: children will boss their mothers around. Let's never be like that!
Sign 2
“Barefoot, poor shepherds competing in building tall buildings.”
People who were once poor desert herders racing to build the tallest towers — something the world has seen.
The lesson: The question is not when the Hour comes — it's what have I prepared? Ibn Rajab explains in Jami' al-'Ulum wal-Hikam that these signs describe affairs being handed to people who are not fit for them — which corrupts both religion and the world.
“That was Jibril. He came to teach you your religion.”
Islam
Your actions: Shahadah, Salah, Zakah, Fasting, Hajj — all built on pure tawhid, free from shirk and riya'.
Iman
Your beliefs: Allah (and His Names), angels, books, messengers, the Last Day, al-Qadar.
Ihsan
Your excellence: worshipping as if you see Him — and never forgetting He sees you.
One thread runs through all of it
lā ilāha illa-llāh — the Shahadah is the first pillar of Islam, the core of belief in Allah, and the heart of Ihsan. Know it, live it, guard it.
Allah's books 📚
Ṣuḥuf
to Ibrahim and Musa
Tawrah
to Musa
Zabur
to Dawud
Injil
to 'Isa
📖 The Qur'an — the last and best book
Given to Muhammad ﷺ. Allah protects it: not one letter has changed!
Live it: read a little Qur'an every day — even one line! 🌟
Allah's messengers
The first
The first messenger was Nuh.
The last
The last is Muhammad ﷺ. No prophet comes after him.
Same message
All of them said: “Worship Allah alone!”
We love and believe in all of them: Adam, Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, 'Isa and the rest — peace be upon them. 25 are named in the Qur'an.
Loving the Prophet ﷺ
We love him more than anyone. We follow his Sunnah and send salawat on him:
مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا
“Whoever sends one salawat on me, Allah sends ten on him!” (Muslim 408)
The day we meet Allah
One day, this world will end. Everyone will come back to life and meet Allah. Every good thing we did — even something tiny — will be there!
🌿 Paradise
A beautiful home Allah prepared for those who believe and do good.
⚖️ Fair for everyone
No one is treated unfairly. Bullies can't hide.
🎒 Get ready
Every prayer and kind deed is packing your bag for Paradise!
Keep it hopeful for young children; focus on Allah's justice and Paradise.
Allah knows, writes, wills and creates everything
Allah knows everything
He knew everything before it happened and wrote it down — before He made the heavens and the earth! (Muslim 2653)
But we still try our best!
The Companions asked: “Should we just stop trying?” The Prophet ﷺ said:
اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ
“Work! Everyone is helped toward what he was made for.” (Bukhari 4949)
Nothing happens unless Allah wills it, and Allah created everything — even our actions. But we really choose, and we are responsible for what we choose. Qadar is never an excuse to do wrong.

🪨 The three men in the cave
Three men were caught in the rain and went into a cave. A big rock fell and closed the door! They were stuck. Each one made du'a to Allah with a good deed he had done sincerely, only for Allah. With each du'a the rock moved a little — until they walked out free! (Bukhari 2272, Muslim 2743)
Lesson: good deeds done only for Allah help you when you need it most.
Who was the visitor?
After the man left, the Prophet ﷺ asked 'Umar: “Do you know who the questioner was?” 'Umar said: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” The Prophet ﷺ said:
He also asked about the Last Day. Even Jibril and the Prophet ﷺ didn't know when it will come — only Allah knows. What matters is getting ready!
